It is true that since the turn of the century, we have almost died from an overdose of zombie-related content, in the form of horror films, graphic novels, and the TV series The Walking Dead (2010–2022) with all its sequels and spin-offs. But, come on, to witness how a group of individuals have to escape from a horde of rotten flesh-eating bastards is still so much fun!
And that is why a movie like Strain 100 (2020) is welcome with open arms. In the movie, after surviving a terrifying car crash, a young woman discovers that aggressive flesh-eating zombies have overtaken the entire area. She must figure out what is happening and why in hopes of escaping her horrifying circumstances. It is based on the popular survival horror game of the same name.
This is the debut feature film of the producer, director, and co-writer Hassan Hussein. Todd Klick, responsible for the script for the awards-winner horror movie Followed (2018), has been the writer of the screenplay.
Strain 100 (2020) is starring Jemma Dallender, one of the most interesting new faces in horror movies have been the star in numerous horror films including Community (2012), I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013), The Mirror (2014), The Executioners (2018), and Daddy’s Girl (2018) among others, and Matt Carriker, a popular YouTuber better known as “Demo Ranch” and owner of his 3 popular firearms channels, DemolitionRanch, Vet Ranch and OffTheRanch. Together with them, Alexis Boozer Sterling, Jennifer Jelsema, Robert Forte Shannon III, Erika Hoveland, Keyna Reynolds, and Alex Roger complete the main cast.
After a limited theatrical release in the Spring of 2020, Strain 100 (2020) Uncork’d Entertainment has the distribution rights for the film and has scheduled it for a digital release on April 11, 2023.
