In less than a month The Nun (2018) is coming out in theaters worldwide. The first trailer was out a few weeks ago and the impressions after watching it were quite positive and promising. Now, the distributors have found themselves with something that far from being a setback can turn into a priceless marketing move. Because after the complaints of some users, and alleging the ad is against their policy on shocking material, YouTube has decided to remove the piece from their platform.
In the 7 seconds pre-roll ad, the typical advertising one can see before the desired video starts, a dark and mysterious background, with the computer sound icon being switched on and off and changing the volume levels until the creepy scream of the demonic creature and her terrifying face takes over the moment. A very old yet effective trick that not many users have welcome with full enthusiasm. If you are curious about it you can search for it on YouTube since some users have posted in their accounts the ripped ad just for their own fun.
The Nun (2018) is another spin-off movie taken from The Conjuring universe, first appearing in The Conjuring 2 (2016). The screenplay was written by Gary Dauberman from a story of his own and James Wan’s. Dauberman is a man used to sordid creatures of demonic forces, since he’s been the author or co-author of the screenplays of other movies of the same kind like Swamp Devil (2008), Wolves at the Door (2016), the horror blockbuster hit of the decade It (2017) and its upcoming sequel It: Chapter Two (2019), as well as the two Annabelle movies. The directional duties recalled on Corin Hardy, a prolific horror and fantasy short films director whose debut and only feature film to date has been The Hallow (2015).
Taissa Farmiga, Bonnie Aarons, Charlotte Hope, Demián Bichir, Lili Bordán, Jonny Coyne, Sandra Rosko, Ingrid Bisu, August Maturo, Mark Steger, Emma Appleton, Scarlett Hicks and Sandra Teles form the main cast. The Nun (2018) opens worldwide the first week of September. You can check out its official trailer here:
