One month after the theatrical release the 2nd of June, Wonder Woman (2017) has grossed over 350 million dollars in the USA (as of the 2nd of July). Previously, the record was held by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), which grossed 330 million dollars from its theatrical release the 25of of March 2016 until the 10th of June 2016.
That marks Wonder Woman (2017) as the biggest grossing DC film in the USA. With an estimated budget of 149 million dollars (quite inferior to the budget from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)), Patty Jenkins’ film has the chance to be one of the most profitable superhero movies of all time. And also one of the most welcome by critics and the general audience, after the poor reviews achieved by the predecessor titles in the DC universe. We can’t forget many voices has claimed Suicide Squad (2016) as one of the worst movies ever made.
Internationally speaking, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) was still better grossing than Wonder Woman (2017), reaching the mark of 873 million dollars.
