Paul Raschid is a British filmmaker that despite his young age he is already one of the most promising new movie authors from the UK thanks to his debut feature film Servants’ Quarters (2016), a movie that combined drama, fantasy and horror to form a claustrophobic nightmare. With his second movie, White Chamber (2018), Raschid confirms that he is another talented new generation filmmaker with a great sense in order to build intense stories always surrounded by mystery and horror.

Taking place in the near-future United Kingdom, White Chamber (2018) places us under civil war rages and with martial law having been declared by a military government hellbent on squashing the opposition. In this setting, a woman wakes up in a white cubicle, where an interlocutor demands information from her that she claims she doesn’t have. At this point, the apparently neutral room will become a sophisticated torture chamber, which will drive our heroine to the limits of her physical and mental strength.

Shauna Macdonald, known for her appearance in horror movies like Mutant Chronicles (2008), Nails (2017), Howl (2015) and, overall, The Descent (2005) and its sequel The Descent: Part 2 (2009), is the main star of White Chamber (2018), for which she achieved the BAFTA Awards for Best Actress in a film. Opposite to her, we can find Oded Fehr, known for his participation in the Resident Evil and The Mummy movie sagas. Together with them, Amrita Acharia, Sharon Maughan, Nicholas Farrell and Candis Nergaard also star.

White Chamber (2018) has been part of numerous film festivals since last year, including Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, FrightFest London, FilmQuest, Sitges Film Festival, Mumbai International Film Festival in India and BiFan – Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea. Dark Sky Films will be releasing the film in theaters and on VoD on the 29th of March.
