Venezuelan zombie horror flick "Infección" out in April

Dark Sky Films is releasing in April Venezuelan zombie horror thriller movie Infección (2019) (easily to translate as Infection in the English language). The movie centers on an epidemic outbreak of a new rabies virus in Venezuela and a father trying to save his son from contagion.

The official press release for the movie reads:

Horror has a new homeland. Infección (2019) is the first zombie film made in Venezuela, and it sets the apocalyptic devastation against a backdrop of the very real sociopolitical turmoil ravaging the country. After an outbreak of a new strand of the rabies virus turns the population into crazed, bloodthirsty cannibals, a young doctor finds himself separated from his son, with the rapidly decaying city and sprawling countryside standing between them. Navigating his way through the plague-infested streets and marauder-filled backwoods roads, he must use every resource at his disposal to find his way back to his only child and hopefully unlock the secret to a cure for the deadly disease.

The movie has been called “collision of worlds between Mad Max (1979) and 28 Days Later (2002)”. This is the debut film of Flavio Pedota, who besides being the director he was also producer and co-writer of the film together with Yeimar Cabral. The main cast is formed by Rubén Guevara, Leonidas Urbina, Magdiel González, Genna Chanelle Hayes, Isabel Bertelsen, Luca de Lima, Anibal Grunn, Johanna Juliethe, Markian Kazandjian, and Ronnie Nordenflycht.

Infección (2019) has been part of international film festivals like Guadalajara Film Festival in Mexico, Fantaspoa – International Fantastic Film Festival of Porto Alegre in Brazil, Popcorn Frights Film Festival in the USA and Festival Of Fear in Canada, where it achieved several nominations and award winnings. Now, Dark Sky Films has scheduled the movie for a release on digital platforms and DVD on April 14, 2020. Here you can find the official trailer of the movie:
