Since 2012, the horror anthology series V/H/S has transmitted its fair share of visceral found-footage thrills from both emerging and established scaremeisters across four memorable installments. The latest continues the tradition with a few new twists and a new crop of filmmakers, each hitting record on a string of supernatural incidents that occurred at the end of the last millennium.
In V/H/S/99 (2022), a thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations. Witness a hellish vision of 1999, as social isolation, analog technology, and disturbing home videos fuse into a nightmare of found footage savagery.
The follow-up of V/H/S (2012), V/H/S/2 (2013), and V/H/S Viral (2014) is formed by 5 segments written and directed by Flying Lotus (segment “Ozzy’s Dungeon“), Maggie Levin (segment “Shredding“), Tyler MacIntyre (segment “The Gawkers“), Johannes Roberts (segment “Suicide Bid“), and Joseph Winter and Vanessa Winter (segment “To Hell and Back“).
Duncan Anderson, Kyle Bales, Verona Blue, Rolando Davila-Beltran, Tybee Diskin, Brittany Gandy, Isabelle Hahn, Jesse LaTourette, Tyler Lofton, Melissa Macedo, Kelley Missal, Luke Mullen, Aminah Nieves, Stephanie Ray, Logan Riley, Melanie Stone, and Keanush Tafreshi are some of the actors starring in the segments.
After its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 14, 2022, V/H/S/99 (2022) is also going to be part of the Fantastic Fest and Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Later, it will premiere as part of the Shudder Originals catalog on October 20, 2022.
