Two new action thrillers for January, “WarHunt” and “Clean”

For this end of January, two upcoming action movies are soon to be released. First WarHunt (2022), set up in WWII but that soon enters the terrains of horror, and one week after Clean (2020), a revenge action thriller.

WarHunt (2022) is set in 1945. In it, a US military cargo plane loses control and violently crashes behind enemy lines in the middle of the German Black Forest. Immediately ruthless Major Johnson sends a squad of his bravest soldiers on a rescue mission to retrieve the top-secret material the plane was carrying. Led by Sergeant Brewer and Walsh, the soldiers venture deep into the forest near the crash site. They soon discover hanged Nazi soldiers and other dead bodies bearing ancient, magical symbols. Suddenly their compasses fail, their perceptions twist, and straying from the group leads to profound horror as they are attacked by a powerful, supernatural force. Fighting for their sanity and struggling to survive, they must uncover the shocking truth behind the force before the Nazis and do everything they can to remove all evidence it ever existed, even at the cost of their own lives.

This is the new movie from Mauro Borrelli, a former art department crew member and illustrator who has worked in a big amount of popular movies including The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988), The Godfather: Part III (1990), Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), Last Action Hero (1993), Batman Forever (1995), Psycho (1998), End of Days (1999), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Dracula Untold (2014), The Hateful Eight (2015), and Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017), and since the beginning of the century he has debuted as a director of feature films being behind of Branches (2004), Haunted Forest (2007), The Ghostmaker (2012), The Recall (2017), and Apple (2020). He has been the author of the screenplay together with his frequent collaborators Reggie Keyohara III and Scott Svatos.

The main attraction in WarHunt (2022) is Mickey Rourke, an actor who has had a career full of ups and downs having participated in hit titles like Rumble Fish (1983), Year of the Dragon (1985), Angel Heart (1987), Bullet (1996), Get Carter (2000), Spun (2002), Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), Domino (2005), Sin City (2005), and The Wrestler (2008) but lately he seems more installed in B-movie productions. Together with him, Jackson Rathbone, Robert Knepper, Fredrik Wagner, Josh Burdett, Lou Stassen, Alex Mills, and Anna Paliga also star.

WarHunt (2022) is Rated R for violent content, language, and some sexual references. The movie is scheduled for a release on digital on January 21, 2022. Watch here its official trailer.

And one week later we will see the release of Clean (2020). The movie centers on a garbage man tormented by his past named Clean, who attempts a quiet life of redemption. But, soon finds himself forced to reconcile with the violence of his past.

This is the new film of Paul Solet, known for his horror films Grace (2009), Dark Summer (2015), the segment segment “The Weak and the Wicked” in anthology Tales of Halloween (2015), and the action thriller Bullet Head (2017). He has written the screenplay alongside the protagonist of the movie Adrien Brody, marking his debut as a screenwriter.

Academy Awards winner for The Pianist (2002) and star of other interesting films like Bullet (1996), Summer of Sam (1999), Oxygen (1999), The Village (2004), King Kong (2005), Splice (2009), Predators (2010), and Bullet Head (2017) Adrien Brody plays the title character in Clean (2020). With him, Glenn Fleshler, Richie Merritt, Chandler DuPont, Michelle Wilson, John Bianco, and Michelle Wilson also star.

Clean (2020) had its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 19, 2021, where it received mostly positive reviews. Now it is scheduled for a digital release on January 28, 2022, by IFC Films. Watch here its official trailer.
