Troma's "Mutant Blast" has its gory trailer out

Every once in a while it is necessary to watch a good splatter festival, with lots of gore and guts and heads exploding. And everybody knows that in the Troma catalog it is pretty easy to find a nice bunch of them. One of its newest additions is Mutant Blast (2018), a Portugal and USA co-production, the debut in a feature film of Fernando Alle, director of horror comedy short films like Papá Wrestling (2009), O Rim (2008) or the awarded Banana Motherfucker (2011). The movie has been co-written between Alle and Adrián Cardona, the creator of the popular gore comedy short film Fist of Jesus (2012).

In Mutant Blast (2018), Maria, a fearless soldier, and TS-347, a man with superhuman strength, are being pursued by a military cell responsible for scientific experiments that have resulted in a zombie apocalypse. On the way, they will meet Pedro, a man with few ambitions and a great hangover. Together, they will try to escape to a safe place, but complications will cross their paths in the form of a nuclear bomb. The movie has been described by the author as a “break-up letter to zombie films”.

Mutant Blast (2018) has been produced by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman, founders and head of Troma Entertainment, together with director Fernando Alle. Pedro Barão Dias, Maria Leite, Joaquim Guerreiro, João Vilas, Mário Oliveira, Mário Oliveira and Clemente Santos form the main cast.

Since its world premiere, last year at MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, Mutant Blast (2018) has been present in numerous film festivals achieving awards and delighting the audiences. It’s been part of the line-ups in Chattanooga Film Festival and Windy City Horrorama in the USA, Blood Window Fest in Argentina, Calgary Underground Film Festival in Canada, Fanstaspoa Film Festival in Brazil and BiFan – Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea.

No release date for the movie has been announced, but it is to expect that once this week it has the world premiere it will be part of the abundant and exciting Troma catalog, sharing a spot with titles like Surf Nazis Must Die (1987), Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. (1990), Tromeo and Juliet (1996), Father’s Day (2011), the Class of Nuke’Em High and Toxic Avenger sagas and many other bizarre enjoyable flicks.
