Despite not being the most original story, South African horror survival Triggered (2020) manages to outstand from most of the similar titles out there. A story of secrets, revenge, killings and explossions.
The movie centers on nine old high school friends who have a 5 year reunion camping in a forest. After a wild night of partying, they wake up with suicide bombs strapped to their chests, all with varying times on their countdown clocks. They decide to work out how to disarm the bombs or find help, until they discover they can take one another’s time by killing each other. Of course, last one lives.
This is the new movie from director Alastair Orr, known for horror flicks The Unforgiving (2010), Expiration (2011), Indigenous (2014), and House on Willow Street (2016), who here also serves as editor and executive producer of the film. David D. Jones, also executive producer of the movie, has been in charge of the screenplay.
Reine Swart, Sean Cameron Michael, Liesl Ahlers, Suraya Rose Santos, Steven John Ward, Cameron Scott, Craig Urbani, Michael Lawrence Potter, Russell Crous, Kayla Privett, and Paige Bonnin form the main cast.
Triggered (2020) has been this year part of the UK genre festivals FrightFest and Grimmfest. Now it is available on Video on Demand. Here you can watch its trailer.
