After several reshoots and having its release date pushed back a few times, The New Mutants (2020) is finally set to come out this April. The movie has been described by the filmmakers “a haunted-house movie with a bunch of hormonal teenagers“, and claims to be heavily influenced by horror author Stephen King.

The premise for The New Mutants (2020) is five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves. Some kind of superhero escape room.

The New Mutants (2020) has been directed by Josh Boone, known for his awards-winner romantic film The Fault in Our Stars (2014). He has also been the author of the screenplay together with Knate Lee, after working together in the fantasy TV series The Stand (2020– ). The movie is based on The New Mutants comic books published by Marvel Comics and created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod.

The main cast for The New Mutants (2020) is formed by Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin / Magik, Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair / Wolfsbane, Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, and Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa / Sunspot. The cast is completed with Happy Anderson, Antonio Banderas, Sarah Bennani, and Colbi Gannett.
