The weekend of Halloween will mark the release of the 8th film of the SAW saga. A movie that in early steps of production was called Saw: Legacy, but that eventually changed the name into of Jigsaw (2017). Yesterday, Lionsgate Movies released the first official trailer for the film, together with a set of posters. And oh man, do they look promising!?!?
This new installment in the SAW franchise will be directed by the Spierig Brothers, Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig. Any new work by these young filmmakers is already good news, they were the authors of great films like Predestination (2014), Daybreakers (2009) and Undead (2003). Those alone are credentials enough to keep an eye on what is going on. This new episode is written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The original creators of the series, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, are only present as executive producers.
Here, Tobin Bell reprises his role of John Kramer aka Jigsaw. Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert and James Gomez complete the main cast. In this new movie, a series of murderings are terrorizing the city, each of the corpses having met a uniquely gruesome demise. They look like the work of the deranged mind of John Kramer. But how can that be? He’s been allegedly dead for over a decade, hasn’t he? The investigation goes on while they keep finding more and more dead people after losing the sordid games set by Jigsaw.
Via the official Twitter page for Jigsaw (2017), a series of official posters with disturbing images have been posted. Here we collected them all up, together with the official trailer.
