Trailer of Fred Durst's "The Fanatic", starring John Travolta

Fred Durst is better known for being the frontman and singer of the popular nu-metal band Limp Bizkit. But he is also a big fan of filmmaking. Since the late 1990s, he has been the director of a good collection of music videos and not only from his own band but also from fellow groups including Korn, Staind, Puddle of Mudd or Deadsy. And using the hiatus he took from music, he debuted as the director of feature films with bulling drama The Education of Charlie Banks (2007), which followed the biopic of Jasmine Plummer, the first female to play in Pop Warner football tournament, The Longshots (2008). Now he has been back to the director’s chair with psychological thriller The Fanatic (2019), about a rabid film fan who stalks his favorite action hero with the purpose of destroying the star’s life.

The story of The Fanatic (2019) is inspired by a real-life fan who pursued Durst many years ago. It follows Moose, who gets cheated out of meeting his favorite action hero, Hunter Dunbar. Moose then hunts down Dunbar to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves. Harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn. Against the advice of his friend Leah, Moose begins to make frequent visits to his hero’s private home. As the visits continue to escalate, Dunbar finds himself in increasing danger.

The Fanatic (2019) has been written by Fred Durst together with Dave Bekerman. John Travolta, Devon Sawa, Ana Golja, Jacob Grodnik, James Paxton, Josh Richman, Jessica Uberuaga, Marta González Rodin, Martin Peña and Kenneth Farmer form the main cast of the movie.

The Fanatic (2019) is scheduled to be released in the USA next 30th of August. You can watch here its official trailer:
