This weekend the people from Cinedigm Entertainment Group, the people owning the distribution rights in the USA, published the first trailer for horror movie The Final Wish (2018). In the movie, with the unexpected passing of his father, Aaron tries to come to terms with his grief while supporting his devastated mother, played by Lin Shaye. Sifting through his father’s belongings, Aaron comes upon an urn that is far more than it seems. As his wants and wishes start coming true, Aaron thinks his prayers have been answered until he realizes the price of this good fortune is much more than he bargained for.
This movie, filled with elements of classic horror like spirits and the deadly consequences of bringing the dead ones back to life, was directed by Timothy Woodward Jr., a young filmmaker specialized in action thrillers and horror flicks being behind the cameras in titles like 7 Faces of Jack the Ripper (2014), Gnome Alone (2015), Checkmate (2015), 4Got10 (2015), WEAPONiZED (2016) or American Violence (2017) to name a few. Jeffrey Reddick, the creator of Final Destination (2000) and producer of the other movies of the saga, as well of the writer of Tamara (2005) and Dead Awake (2016), came out with the story. Him, together with William Halfon and Jonathan Doyle were the authors of the screenplay.
Lin Shaye, one of the most recognizable faces of mystery and horror movies of the last decade being the star of the Insidious and Ouija sagas, plays the matriarch in The Final Wish (2018). With her, Michael Welch, Melissa Bolona, Spencer Locke, Tony Todd, Kaiwi Lyman, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Jean Elie and Christopher Murray complete the main cast.
The Final Wish (2018) had its premiere last October at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, where it got a good amount of positive reviews. It is scheduled to open in American theaters on the 24th of January. You can watch its official trailer here:
