As it was announced back in July, James Wan is being involved as a producer to the movie adaptation of the Mexican folklore legend of La Llorona, the ghost of a woman who lost her children and now cries while looking for them in the river, often causing misfortune to those who are near or hear her.
In The Curse of La Llorona (2019), ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona‘s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay, on the fringes where fear and faith collide
The movie finished its filming last November and its currently in the state of post-production. Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis wrote the screenplay while Michael Chaves makes his directorial debut. Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velasquez, Madeleine McGraw, Sean Patrick Thomas, John Marshall Jones, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, Marisol Ramirez, Andrew Tinpo Lee, Irene Keng, DeLaRosa Rivera and Sophia Santi star in the film.
The Curse of La Llorona (2019) is produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster together with New Line Cinema, and Warner Bros. will distribute worldwide. It will open in cinemas in the USA April the 19th 2019. And you can watch its first trailer here:
