A Vigilante (2018) is a drama thriller with a high dosage of social criticism and female empowerment. The plot is as simple as direct, a vigilante helps victims escape their domestic abusers. After a few short films, this is the debut feature movie of Sarah Daggar-Nickson, who also wrote the screenplay.
Olivia Wilde, known for her roles in several horror and science fiction movies like The Lazarus Effect (2015), Her (2013), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), In Time (2011), TRON: Legacy (2010), or Turistas (2006), leads the main cast that also includes Morgan Spector, Kyle Catlett, C.J. Wilson, Tonye Patano, Chuck Cooper, Betsy Aidem and Judy Marte.
Last year A Vigilante (2018) had a festival run including South by Southwest Film Festival in the USA, Sydney Film Festival in Australia, BiFan – Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea and Stockholm International Film Festival in Sweden where it received positive reviews from film critics and audience.
Randall Emmett, George Furla, Andrew D. Corkin, Lars Knudsen and Ambyr Childers will serve as producers on the film, under their Badlands Entertainment, The Long Run, Uncorkd Productions, Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Parts & Labor banners, respectively. A Vigilante (2018) had its world premiere at SXSW Festival where it was nominated for the Gamechanger award on March 10, 2018. Shortly after, Saban Films acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film. It finally had its release last month, on March 29, 2019. You can find it available as part of the Video on Demand service DirectTV catalog.
