The Super (2017) is a thriller with a big dose of tension and some traces of horror about a man becomes the superintendent of a large New York City apartment building where people mysteriously go missing. A plot very common in the 1990s that could perhaps remind the audience of titles like Single White Female (1992) or Sliver (1993). At least it does to me. And I kinda miss this kind of films.
John J. McLaughlin, known for being attached in the development and writing of films like Black Swan (2010) or the Jason Statham vehicles Parker (2013) and Wild Card (2015), is the author of the screenplay for The Super (2017). German multi-awarded filmmaker known for TV and movie thrillers Stephan Rick has been in charge of the direction. Patrick John Flueger, Val Kilmer, Louisa Krause, Mattea Conforti, Taylor Richardson, Paul Ben-Victor, Yul Vazquez, Andrea Lynn Green, Travaris Spears, Melissa Bolona and Colby Minifie form the main cast.
The Super (2017) had a discrete festival run last year, which included the screening at Sitges Film Festival among others. Now it is scheduled to have a theatrical release in the USA on the 19th of October. It is not sure what will be the destiny for the movie internationally, but probably it will become part of some Video on Demand services. In the meantime, check out its first trailer here:
