Trailer: "Fantasy Island", horror in a magical island resort

After the international success of horror thriller Truth or Dare (2018), Blumhouse and director Jeff Wadlow are joining forces again in the upcoming adventure and horror movie Fantasy Island (2020). The movie has been described as some sort of horror adaptation of the popular ’70s TV show about a magical island resort.

More into detail, the film is described as being a tonal mix of Westworld (1973) meets The Cabin in the Woods (2011), centering on a group of contest winners who arrive at an island hotel to live out their dreams, only to find themselves trapped in nightmare scenarios. The enigmatic Mr. Roarke, makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

Fantasy Island (2020) has been directed by Jeff Wadlow, who has built himself a solid career in thriller and horror films with titles including Cry Wolf (2005), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), True Memoirs of an International Assassin (2016), and the mentioned before Truth or Dare (2018). He has also been co-writer of the screen together with Jillian Jacobs and Christopher Roach, with who he already wrote his previous film.

The movie is starred by a bunch of popular faces in genre films, including Maggie Q (Naked Weapon (2002), Priest (2011)), Lucy Hale (Scream 4 (2011), Truth or Dare (2018)), Portia Doubleday (Carrie (2013), Mr. Robot TV series (2015– )), Michael Peña (End of Watch (2012), Extinction (2018)), Kim Coates (Skinwalkers (2006), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)), and Michael Rooker (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986), Slither (2006)).
