In a Deadline exclusive, we have learned that a new science-fiction and horror movie is in the works, where a group of people will have to stop an alien invasion on Earth, entitled The Bunker.
Currently filming, The Bunker takes pace when mysterious alien ships appear in the sky, and a scientist who is sealed in an underground bunker must create a bio-weapon to stop the unknown visitors. But paranoia and isolation cause her to question the true intention of her mission.
The movie will be starred by Tony Todd, best known as Candyman, a role he has played in the original movie Candyman (1992), the sequels Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) and Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999), and will reprise one more time in the upcoming reboot Candyman (2021). He is also taken part in a wide list of popular movies including The Crow (1994), The Rock (1996), Wishmaster (1997), Final Destination (2000) and some of its sequels, The Prophecy: Forsaken (2005), Hatchet (2006) and its sequel Hatchet II (2010), The Man from Earth (2007), and Jack the Reaper (2011).
Another veteran actor, Tobin Bell, will also lead the cast. The man who finally saw the deserve credit after playing Jigsaw in the Saw movies saga has also participated in titles like False Identity (1990), The Quick and the Dead (1995), The 4th Floor (1999), Boogeyman 2 (2007), Dark House (2014), The Sandman (2017), Belzebuth (2017), and the recent The Call (2020) together with Lin Shaye.
The rest of the main cast will be headed by Chelsea Edmundson, that will be seen this month in Army of the Dead (2021), Chad Michael Collins, Cullen Douglas, Christopher Matthew Cook, Debbie Fan, Sharif Ibrahim, and Spencer Langston.
The Bunker is being directed by Brian Hanson, responsible for horror-thriller The Black String (2018), who is also the producer and co-writer of the screenplay together with his frequent collaborator Charles L. Bunce.
The movie is produced by Blood Oath. Filmmakers have stated that “we’ve been reading a mountain of scripts, and this one immediately leaped off the page as a fast-paced, character-driven story within a high concept none of us had seen before. It was the perfect fit for Blood Oath, and with legends Tony Todd and Tobin Bell starring, we believe it will also be a perfect fit for audiences”.
