Despite being released on Netflix, May the Devil Take You (2018) [read our review here] was one of the most successful Indonesian horror movies of the last decade. Its director, Timo Tjahjanto, one of the most promising filmmakers of the Asian country, had already a good collection of films like Macabre (2009), Headshot (2016), The Night Comes for Us (2018) [read our review here] and his segment in V/H/S/2 (2013) that certify that he is truly a secure value in the terms of action and horror films.

With the headlike “the devil never dies”, the sequel for May the Devil Take You (2018) gets presented. In the movie, May the Devil Take You Too (2020), also entitled May the Devil Take You: Chapter Two, two years after escaping from demonic terror, Alfie (Chelsea Islan) and Nara (Hadijah Shahab) try to continue their lives. But Alfie is still haunted by feelings of guilt and unnatural vision. Alfie’s worst nightmare has just begun and the dangers that await her are increasingly threatening: the figure of darkness so hungry for souls rises to take their lives.

Chelsea Islan and Hadijah Shahab repeat their roles in a movie also starred by Shareefa Daanish, Karina Suwandhi, Aurélie Moeremans, Ruth Marini, Baskara Mahendra, Arya Vasco, Karina Salim, Widika Sidmore and Lutesha. As it happened with the original movie, director Timo Tjahjanto has been in charge of writing the screenplay.

Timo Tjahjanto’s Sam-Raimiesque demonic film gets closer to The Evil Dead (1981) than it did in the first movie. Although the movie is still in the works, the people from Bloody-Disgusting has published the first trailer for May the Devil Take You Too (2020) and you can watch it here:
