If Mark Hamill is right and we have a saturation of Star Wars movies, what to say about the MCU – Marvel Cinematic Universe? Last month we saw the release of Captain Marvel (2019) and in a week we already will have the new Avengers movie in theaters. Last year the previous entry of the saga Avengers: Infinity War (2018) became some sort of global social event. Not only because it was advertised as “the most ambitious crossover event in history”, a sentence we’ve heard in all sorts of memes on the internet for the last year, but also because the story left the audiences in a cliffhanger rarely seen in these sorts of movies. It seemed that powerful Thanos got his purpose of ruining the time and space, and defeating the Avengers, the final ones in charge of keeping the universal equilibrium. Needless to say, the movie was a huge mundial success with stratospheric grossing figures.
Avengers: Endgame (2019) is a direct sequel to the events depicted in Avengers: Infinity War (2018). After half of all life in the universe was killed due to the actions of Thanos, the remaining Avengers and their allies must reassemble to revert those actions in one last stand. Again, a crossover of different Marvel sagas is set, bringing as many super-heroes as possible. Besides the classic Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and War Machine from the previous Avengers movies, characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and even the recently started Captain Marvel series will appear in the movie.
As happened with Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) has been directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The list of popular actors incarnating the superheroes and villains is almost as epic as the action in the films, including Brie Larson, Scarlett Johansson, Karen Gillan, Paul Rudd, Dave Bautista, Robert Downey Jr., Tessa Thompson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Brolin, Tom Holland, Jon Favreau, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Sebastian Stan, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winston Duke, Mark Ruffalo, Tilda Swinton, Danai Gurira, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, Letitia Wright, Don Cheadle, Hiroyuki Sanada, Benedict Wong, Sean Gunn and Bradley Cooper performing the on-set moves and voice respectively for Rocket, and it’s even rumored that Avengers co-creator Stan Lee has a posthumous cameo.
Avengers: Endgame (2019) opens world wide next weekend and here you can watch the new TV spot entitled “to the end”:
