It was back in the early 2000s when a modest slasher film became a fans favorite and started one of the widest horror franchise of the last years. Written by Alan McElroy, directed by Rob Schmidt, and starred by Eliza Dushku, Jeremy Sisto, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Sisto, Kevin Zegers and Lindy Booth, Wrong Turn (2003), told the story of six young friends who find themselves trapped in the woods of West Virginia, hunted down by cannibalistic mountain men grossly disfigured through generations of in-breeding. The family of cannibals satisfied the audience so much that the movie spawned into a saga that included the sequels Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007), Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead (2009), Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead (2009), Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines (2012) and Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (2014).
Now the people from Constantin Film have decided to reboot the franchise, and a new Wrong Turn movie is on the way. Alan McElroy has been again the writer of the seventh entry in the franchise, and Mike P. Nelson, responsible of Summer School (2006) and The Domestics (2018), has been the chosen one to be in the director’s chair.
The new Wrong Turn is starred by Emma Dumont, Charlotte Vega, Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, David Hutchison, Adain Bradley, Cory Scott Allen, Vardaan Arora, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, and Brian James Fitzpatrick. In it, a team of friends is hiking the Appalachian Trail, and they get confronted by The Foundation, a community of people who have lived in the mountains for hundreds of years.
Filming for the Wrong Turn remake started on September 9, 2019 in Ohio, and the movie is scheduled to be released sometime in 2020. To warm up the motors, here you can find the trailer of the original Wrong Turn (2003) film:
