The Wendigo is a mythological creature or evil spirit originating from the folklore of the Native Americans. It is often said to be a malevolent spirit, sometimes depicted as a creature with human-like characteristics, which possesses human beings. The Wendigo is said to invoke feelings of insatiable greed/hunger, the desire to cannibalize other humans, and the propensity to commit murder in those that fall under its influence.
In the found-footage horror movie The Wendigo (2022), after a social media star disappears in the woods of North Carolina, his friends are set to figure out what happened to him. Ignoring the legend of the cursed land was only their first mistake. Some have speculated a lost Algonquin tribe may have settled in North Carolina. Some suggest these stories are merely a legend, while others truly believe reports and sightings of a dangerous spirit that haunts the darkest parts of forested North Carolina to this day. Social media sensation “Logan Does It All” entered those woods to investigate this supposed legend, meeting an unexpected demise many speculate. After Logan disappears, his fellow influencers set out to find him and ultimately discover the forgotten truth behind the stories.
