The headline of the horror and mystery movie The Visitor (2022) reads “where he goes, death follows”. Well, with a premise like this we must follow it as well, right?
The movie centers on Robert and his wife Maia who, after a series of tragedies, he decides to move to his childhood home. Then, he discovers an old portrait of his likeness in the attic – a man referred to only as ‘The Visitor’. Soon he finds himself descending down a frightening rabbit hole in an attempt to discover the true identity of his mysterious doppelgänger, only to realize that every family has its own terrifying secrets.
This is the new movie from director Justin P. Lange, after his debut feature film, the awarded The Dark (2018), and The Seventh Day (2021). Simon Boyes and Adam Mason, the writers for horror movies Broken (2006) and Songbird (2020), have been in charge of the screenplay.
The main cast in The Visitor (2022) is formed by Finn Jones, Jessica McNamee, Dane Rhodes, Donna Biscoe, Shanna Forrestall, Thomas Francis Murphy, and Susan McPhail.
The movie is produced by Blumhouse Television and Epix, and Paramount Movies is distributing. It is scheduled for a digital release on October 7, 2022.
