Audrey Grace Marshall and Stacey Weckstein play the main roles in the film.
The director Cory Choy stated that “I recognize that women are underrepresented in film, both on and off-screen. And while I didn’t set out with this explicit intention, I am very proud to have made a movie exploring the relationship between parent and child that stars only women (one of whom is a little girl), was co-written and co-edited by women, with cinematography by a woman, and features a score composed by women”. The movie is Inspired by true events and is “rooted in a family’s history and lore”, adds Choy.
Esme, My Love (2022) has won multiple awards in international festivals including Richmond International Film Festival, Cannes World Film Festival, Manhattan Film Festival, Something Wicked Film Festival, Queen City Film Festival, and Hot Springs International Women’s Film Festival.
Terror Films has the distribution rights for the film and has scheduled it for a release on June 2, 2023.
