Bird Box (2018), right before the world got submitted to the COVID-19 pandemic, Netflix released this mystery and horror film where years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a mother and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety. Five years later, the menace crossed the ocean and landed in Europe. This week the spin-off Bird Box: Barcelona (2023) is arriving on the streaming service.
The film serves as a spin-off from Bird Box (2018), but it’s not a direct sequel. It follows a father and daughter and those they join up with to try and survive a dystopian future in which no one survives looking at entities that have invaded and roam the earth. The group begins their own great adventure of survival in Barcelona.
