You’re Next (2023) is a South African dark-thriller centering on detectives who go down a rabbit hole of lies and deceit to uncover a social media system that is plagued by individuals who will do anything for attention.
In the movie, Detective Khumalo finds himself tangled in a complex case when a bloodied girl runs into his station with an elaborate story. He contacts an old friend, Detective Khan, who is a specialist, to help him come to terms with the information. Their investigation takes them down a path of murder and deceit linked to the social media world.
This is the new movie from Arish Sirkissoon after his debut horror film The Castle (2022). Besides directing, he has also been the editor, composer of the soundtrack, and co-writer of the film with Raj Singh, also the co-writer, producer, and star as Detective Khan.
S’bonelo Cele, Drew Baillie, Edwin Cole, Amishka Dookie, Connor Leven, Rahul Polton, Tamlyn Prosser, Rakshana Singh, Arish Sirkissoon, and Dylan Swanepoel also star.
LX Seth is producing and distributing. After its premiere on June 30, 2023, the movie is set for release on digital platforms in October 2023.
