The revenge horror-thriller "Peppergrass" is out on digital in June

The Canadian actress Chantelle Han, known for her roles in the TV series Departure (2019–2022) and Black Summer (2019–2021) and the drama film Circle of Steel (2018), debuts as a producer and co-director of the revenge horror and thriller movie Peppergrass (2021).

The movie is set during the pandemic and it centers on a pregnant restaurateur who tries to rob a priceless truffle from a reclusive World War 2 veteran.

Steven Garbas, known for Pinkville (2009), is the co-director and also producer of the movie. He also co-wrote the screenplay together with his frequent collaborator Philip Irwin.

Alongside Chantelle Han, Charles Boyland, Michael Copeman, Philip Williams, and Craig Porritt form the main cast.

Peppergrass (2021) won Best Feature and Best Actor (Chantelle Han), plus a handful of nominations in other categories, at the Nightmares Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best Picture at the Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival.

In the words of the co-director Steven Garbas, “Peppergrass (2021) was written to be a bit of a horror genre tour, where the protagonist, Eula, walks the viewer through a heist, survival, and revenge film. We wanted to take apart and reassemble the elements in each act to keep the story fresh and put sophisticated horror fans a little off-kilter. And we wanted to get a giant pig to climb on my car”.

Peppergrass (2021) is coming out on digital platforms on June 16, 2023, by Terror Films. Watch its official trailer here.
