Another horror franchise that is getting rebooted this year is The Puppet Master. It’s been almost 15 years since its last installment Puppet Master: The Legacy (2003), so it’s one of the horror series that are kind of forgotten by the fans. But that is going to change soon because the puppets are back in vogue with Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich. The film doesn’t have an expected release date yet, but filming is reported to begin at the end of this month.
This new episode of the horror series will be directed by the tandem formed by Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund, creators of nightmares like Madness (2010), Vittra (2012) or We Are Monsters (2015). Real experts in B-movies, indeed. Charles Band, the creator of the original franchise, takes the role of executive producer. A good surprise is the script for this new Puppet Master movie is written by S. Craig Zahler, an always exciting writer whose directional debut Bone Tomahawk (2015) is one of the most interesting titles of the last years.
But that is not the only good surprise in the domains of Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, because it’s been confirmed that veteran horror icon Udo Kier will be playing the role of the nazi evil Toulon. I seriously have trouble trying to find a better face to portrait a creepy villain like this.
So still many things are still in the unknown, but let’s expect more information about this new production will see the light now that filming starts.
