The Pact (2012) was a small budget film that achieved a remarkable success both in audience and grossing terms. The movie was the debut feature film for Nicholas McCarthy, and it was based on his short film of the same name. A not so interesting sequel called The Pact II (2014) was done a couple of years later, but although it had the presence of the original film stars Caity Lotz and Haley Hudson, director McCarthy didn’t return to the project.
Now, after his latest film Home (2014), being part of Holidays (2016) with his segment “Easter” and some TV jobs, Nicholas McCarthy returns with the psychological horror thriller The Prodigy (2019). In it, a mother concerned about her young son’s disturbing behavior thinks something supernatural may be affecting him.
The movie is written by Jeff Buhler, author of the screenplay of upcoming remakes of Jacob’s Ladder (2019), Pet Sematary (2019) and The Grudge (2019). Taylor Schilling, Colm Feore, Jackson Robert Scott, Peter Mooney, Brittany Allen and Olunike Adeliyi form the main cast. The Prodigy (2019) is currently in post-production, and Orion Pictures has taken care of financing and will distribute.
