The popular streaming content service Netflix seems to have a special interest in focusing on the cinematographic universe of Resident Evil. If this month we’ve seen they have added to their catalog the movies saga starring Milla Jovovich that started with Resident Evil (2002) and ended with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016) being the sixth installment of the series, they also released last year the animation horror and action series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (2021– ). And although not available yet, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the remake attempt of the film’s saga Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) appears there soon.
The plot of the Resident Evil (2022– ) TV series takes place over two timelines. The first of which involves 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon City. They come to realize that their father may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world. The second timeline takes place over a decade in the future, where only 15 million humans remain, with over 6 billion animals and people being infected with the T-virus. It follows Jade, now thirty, in her efforts to survive in this world.
Garett Pereda, Mary Leah Sutton, and Shane Tortolani, the writers of the crime and mystery Netflix TV series Ingobernable (2017– ), have been in charge of the story based on the popular Japanese horror video game.
The main cast in the Resident Evil (2022– ) TV series is formed by Ella Balinska, Lance Reddick, Tetiana Gaidar, Turlough Convery, Droxzyfps, Connor Gosatti, Lea Vivier, Bjorn Steinbach, Mpho Osei Tutu, Hanni Heinrich, Paola Nuñez, Siena Agudong, and Tamara Smart.
The series consists of 8 episodes, all of them scheduled to open on July 14, 2022, on Netflix.
