Last week, a few seconds teaser for the upcoming Jordan Peele horror film Nope (2022) announced a full first trailer coming up this weekend. In it, we could already see a few images of the movie but not much of the plot was revealed. So, finally, we have here the first official trailer, and although the plot and story it is still unclear the images are very exciting anticipating what could be one of the best horror titles of the year.
The official plot for the movie was known previously, although it doesn’t throw much information. The residents of a lonely gulch in inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery, it is. Now, after seeing the first trailer, we can assume the horrifying discovery is related to an alien invasion; or perhaps not, because we know how much Jordan Peele likes to play with mystery and never reveal his winning cards.
The arid landscapes, together with the alien invasion feeling, make Nope (2022) get the science-fiction and mystery hit movie by M. Night Shyamalan Signs (2002) in mind.
The movie is starring Keke Palmer, the winner of a Primetime Emmy for her work in Turnt Up with the Taylors (2020), and Daniel Kaluuya, who is an Academy Award winner for Judas and the Black Messiah (2021) and also starred in Jordan Peele’s debut movie Get Out (2017). Barbie Ferreira, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, Donna Mills, Terry Notary, Brandon Perea, and Jennifer Lafleur complete the main cast.
Jordan Peele is the writer, director, and producer of Nope (2022), and it is his third feature film after the horror instant classics Get Out (2017) and Us (2019).
The movie has been developed by Peele’s banner Monkeypaw Productions and is distributed by Universal Pictures. It is scheduled for release on July 22, 2022.
The official trailer for Nope (2022) premiered yesterday during Super Bowl LVI. You can watch it here.
