The Asylum has a new catastrophes flick ready. The Earth is on the verge of destruction again. What is it this time? Is it an earthquake created by aliens? A historical figure fighting zombies, werewolves, or vampires? Is it a hybrid of a dinosaur and a shark? Is it a super robot or a weird virus pandemic or a deep forest mythological creature? Nope, this time is our beloved satellite, the Moon.
In Meteor Moon (2020), when a meteor crashes into the moon and shifts its axis, Earth’s gravity pulls the moon into the path of the planet. Now, a group of scientists must figure out how to stop the moon from hitting the earth before it’s too late.
The movie is the first feature film of director Brian Nowak, who already had experience in productions of this sort after being the assistant director in Earthtastrophe (2016) and Dead 7 (2016), and being script supervisor of horror and fantasy movies like The Curse of Sleeping Beauty (2016), Slice (2018), Bloodline (2018), Thriller (2018), and The Asylum’s Ghosthunters (2016), Mommy Would Never Hurt You (2019), The Twisted Nanny (2019), and My Nightmare Landlord (2020). Joe Roche, another veteran in the company author of the screenplay for Collision Earth (2020), and part of the crew in some of the Sharknado saga installments, has been the writer for Meteor Moon (2020).
As it happens in most of The Asylum productions, a somehow known Hollywood name in decline is used as a catch for the film. This time the chosen one is Dominique Swain, known in her best times for starring in Lolita (1997) and Alpha Dog (2006), but mostly has been part of the cast in lousy action and horror movies outstanding Dead in the Water (2002), Road to Nowhere (2010), Trance (2010), The Girl from the Naked Eye (2012), and The 6th Friend (2016), here she plays Colonel Hauser. Together with her, Chris Boudreaux, Michael Broderick, Anna Harr, Jamie Harr, Adam Hollick, Carol Kaufman, Kally Khourshid, Emily Killian, Tiana Masaniai, and Daniel O’Reilly complete the main cast.
Meteor Moon (2020) is already out on-demand in the usual distribution channels of The Asylum. Here you can watch its official trailer.
