In Ganiveta our duty is to inform you, our beloved audience, but it is also nice to set things into a perspective, as some kind of a warning, or at least as an explanation for a certain point of view. In my personal case, I love horror movies and creature movies, and, at some point, also enjoy and devour plenty of bad horror creature flicks. Still, one day I found myself facing my own private Achilles’ heel: Mutant Man (1996). The only movie I have rated with a 0/10, it was so awful that I couldn’t salvage one single thing, not a line of dialog, not a plot element, not a character, nothing. Suzanne DeLaurentiis was the producer, writer, and director of such a film. Now, she is back as a producer and co-writer of another monster movie, Reed’s Point (2022). And, from now on, I’ll remain as objective as always in the articles, I promise.
The movie centers on Sarah and Alex, two survivors of an RV crash near the New Jersey Pine Barrens. The crash leads to a missing teen which raises conspiracy theories about the infamous Jersey Devil legend. On the anniversary of the accident, Sarah and Alex drive to Reed’s Point to investigate the crash site. Convinced her cousin Kelsey is alive, Sarah goes out to the crash site with Alex, Kelsey’s boyfriend, to investigate. Things go downhill quickly as they find themselves stuck in the woods unsure of who they can trust and questioning if monsters really do exist.
Reed’s Point (2022) has been written and produced by Suzanne DeLaurentiis, with Tricia Aurand and Sandy Lo also responsible for the screenplay. Dale Fabrigar, the director of Area 407 (2012) and D-Railed (2018), two other DeLaurentiis productions, has been in charge of the movie.
The main cast for Reed’s Point (2022) is formed by Sasha Anne, Evan Adams, Joe Estevez, Julia Kelly, Clint Carmichael, Anthony Jensen, Lanett Tachel, Joseph Almani, Catherine Healy, Giovannie Espiritu, and Madison Ekstrand.
The movie is out on digital and DVD on April 12, 2022. Watch the official trailer for Reed’s Point (2022) here.
