Finch (2021) is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic science-fiction drama centering on an ailing inventor, the last man on Earth, who builds an android to keep him and his dog company and goes on a trip across the country.
Tom Hanks is Finch, a man who embarks on a moving and powerful journey to find a new home for his unlikely family—his beloved dog and a newly created robot—in a dangerous and ravaged world.
This is the new movie of Miguel Sapochnik, winner of Primetime Emmy Awards for TV series Game of Thrones (2011–2019) and who debuted as a feature film director with science-fiction and thriller Repo Men (2010).
The screenplay for Finch (2021) has been written by Craig Luck, a former camera assistant who has worked in popular titles like The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016), Jason Bourne (2016), The Infiltrator (2016), Doctor Strange (2016), The Commuter (2018), Annihilation (2018), and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), and veteran producer Ivor Powell, who was associate producer of Alien (1979) and Blade Runner (1982).
Tom Hanks is the main star of the film that also includes the participation of Caleb Landry Jones, Samira Wiley, Laura Harrier, and Skeet Ulrich. Robert Zemeckis is the executive producer of the film.
Originally entitled BIOS, the movie is Rated PG-13 for brief violent images. In May 2018, the film was scheduled to be released in theaters by Universal Pictures on October 2, 2020. In June 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic shutting down theaters worldwide, it was delayed several times.
