Insidious is one of the most successful horror sagas of the new century. Created by Leigh Whannell and James Wan, the first two movies of the saga, Insidious (2010) and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), are centered on the Lambert family, who are threatened by a mysterious supernatural evil. In the prequels Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) and Insidious: The Last Key (2018), the action centered on the adventures of the gifted psychic character Elise Rainier played by Lin Shaye.
In Insidious: The Red Door (2023), the plot goes back to its origins and centers on the Lamberts 10 years after the end of the previous first two films. Josh Lambert heads east to drop his son Dalton off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both. To end the haunting and to put the demons to rest once and for all, Josh and Dalton must return to the Further in order to close the Lambert nightmare forever.
Patrick Wilson, the protagonist of the first two movies playing Josh Lambert, stars and debuts as a director of a feature film with Insidious: The Red Door (2023). Scott Teems, the writer of Halloween Kills (2021) and Firestarter (2022), has been the author of the screenplay based on a story by Leigh Whannell.
Stars Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, and Andrew Astor also reprise their roles as the Lambert family in a cast that also includes Hiam Abbass, Sinclair Daniel, Peter Dager, Jarquez McClendon, and Lin Shaye.
Jason Blum, James Wan, Leigh Whannell, and Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity (2007), Area 51 (2015)) are producing with Sony Pictures Releasing distributing.
