The Pact (2012) was a small budget film that achieved a remarkable success both in audience and grossing terms. The movie was the debut feature film for Nicholas McCarthy, and it was based on his short film of the same name. A not so interesting sequel called The Pact II (2014) was done a couple of years later, but although it had the presence of the original film stars Caity Lotz and Haley Hudson, director McCarthy didn’t return to the project.
Now the director is returning with a new horror thriller entitled The Prodigy (2019). Jeff Buhler, the author of the screenplay of upcoming remakes of Jacob’s Ladder (2019), Pet Sematary (2019) and The Grudge (2019), has been in charge of the screenplay. In it, a mother is concerned about her young son’s disturbing behavior and thinks something supernatural may be affecting him.
In the trailer, that Orion Pictures released this week, the young Miles is submitted to a hypnosis regression where the therapist thinks somebody else is inside the body of the little boy. The movie is starred by Taylor Schilling, Brittany Allen, Colm Feore, Jackson Robert Scott, Peter Mooney and Olunike Adeliyi.
The Prodigy (2019) is scheduled to open in the USA the 8th of February next year 2019. You can watch the first official trailer here:
