With a very modest budget of around $100,000, The Gallows (2015) became one of the mildly notorious horror movies of 2015. Perhaps it didn’t receive a very positive review by the media, but it became a favorite title for many fans and accumulated the succulent grossing of over 40 million dollars worldwide. In a surprising move, Blumhouse Productions, New Line Cinema, and Tremendum Pictures decided to secretly film a sequel for the movie from late 2016 and early 2017. And finally, next month The Gallows Act II (2019) is going to see the light.
The Gallows (2015) start in a high school in 1993, where a young kid is accidentally hanged and killed after a prop malfunction during a presentation of the play “The Gallows“. His parents, along with the whole audience, witness the tragic event. Twenty years later, the school attempts to put on a new performance of “The Gallows“, but the aficionado actors will discover something evil and supernatural is hidden behind the past deadly events.
Like the original film, The Gallows Act II (2019) is written, produced and directed by the combo formed by Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing. In the new movie, aspiring actress Ana Rue gets transferred to a prestigious new school. But soon her desires are twisted after participating in a viral challenge capable of conjuring a malevolent spirit. Ema Horvath, Chris Milligan, Brittany Falardeau, Dennis Hurley, Erika Miranda, Jono Cota, Anthony Jensen and Jener Dasilva star in the film.
The Gallows Act II (2019) had a special early screening held at the WB lot in Burbank, California back in August 2017 for horror fans aged 13-25, where it achieved quite positive opinions. The film is finally scheduled for release on October 25, 2019 in theaters, on-demand and digital by Lionsgate. You can watch here its first official trailer:
