"The Forever Purge" is out today

Since it came out almost a decade ago, the saga that started with The Purge (2013) has become one of the most profitable ones in the horror scene. With five films and one television series The Purge (2018–2019), this new installment entitled The Forever Purge (2021) is called to be the last one of the franchise, at least as we know it until somebody decides to reboot it.

It started as a 12-hour period a year in which any and all crime is legal, and now it ended in a dystopian apocalypse. In this new movie, following the presidential elections from the last year and abolition of the Purge, a Mexican couple escaping from a drug cartel is stranded on a Texas ranch. There, they will be at the mercy of a group of outsiders who plan to unlawfully continue their own Purge, and turn against the couple to eliminate them. All the rules are broken as a sect of lawless marauders decides that the annual Purge does not stop at daybreak and instead should never end.

James DeMonaco, the creator of the saga and writer-director of some of the movies, is the author of the screenplay for The Forever Purge (2021). Everardo Gout, co-creator of the Mars (2016–2018) TV series, has been in charge of directing.

Josh Lucas (She Dies Tomorrow (2020)), Ana de la Reguera (Army of the Dead (2021)), and Cassidy Freeman (Smallville (2001–2011)) lead the main cast that is completed with Will Patton, Leven Rambin, Veronica Falcón, Susie Abromeit, Alejandro Edda, Tenoch Huerta, and Anthony Molinari.

Produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, The Forever Purge (2021) is finally coming out after being postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In most of the territories is coming out in theaters on July 2, 2021, although some countries like France or Germany will see the release of the film in August.
