Edgar Wright is one of those filmmakers that no matter in what project he is involved in automatically deserves all the attention. The creator of essential movies like Shaun of the Dead (2004), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), and The World’s End (2013) has always had a very personal way of packing the action and comedy with an editing style closer to music videos, full of adrenaline and rarely giving a rest. And since the announcement of his upcoming feature, a horror-thriller entitled Last Night in Soho (2021), it became one of the films in the must-see list of any movies aficionado.

The movie centers on a young girl, passionate about fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.

Wright has directed, produced, and co-written the movie. Krysty Wilson-Cairns, nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay of 1917 (2019), is also the co-writer.

Last Night in Soho (2021) is starred by Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, Rita Tushingham, Terence Stamp, Jessie Mei Li, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Margaret Nolan, Lisa McGrills, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, and former Bond Girl Diana Rigg, who starred as 007’s love interest in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969) and also starred in popular TV series as Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones (2011–2019), and Emma Peel in The Avengers (1961–1969) before her passing on September 2020.

Postponed a few times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Focus Features and Universal Pictures have scheduled the release of Last Night in Soho (2021) for October 22, 2021. Here you can watch the first official trailer for the movie.
