After his very gory and fans praised adaptation of Evil Dead (2013), and before the disappointing Millennium saga entry The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018), Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez put out a little dark thriller with a big dosage of horror movie entitled Don’t Breathe (2016). The movie was centered on a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn’t as helpless as he seems. And it ended badly, very badly.

Soon after its release, where it became a big financial hit, a sequel was announced. And this sequel is coming out this year.

Don’t Breathe 2 (2021) is set in the years following the initial deadly home invasion, where Norman Nordstrom, the victim who became the butcher in the first film, lives in quiet solace until his past sins catch up to him. He has been hiding out for several years in an isolated cabin and has taken in and raised a young girl orphaned from a devastating house fire. Their quiet life together is shattered when a group of criminals kidnaps the girl, forcing the Blind Man to leave his safe haven to save her.

This time, Fede Alvarez remains as producer and co-writer of the film, which was written together with frequent collaborator, co-producer and director of the film Rodo Sayagues.

Stephen Lang reprises his role as The Blind Man in a cast that also includes Bobby Schofield, Rocci Williams, Stephanie Arcila, Adam Young, Diaana Babnicova, Christian Zagia, and Steffan Rhodri.

Don’t Breathe 2 (2021) will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing and is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 13, 2021. Here you can watch its first official trailer.
