Since this movie was announced, many fans have been waiting anxiously the moment to see the pair of rock stars wannabes again on the big screen. The sequel of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) is called Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020), it will come out this summer, and the first official teaser trailer is already out. So get ready for another funny fantasy and science-fiction trip!
For any young follower who is not familiar with the saga, the films and television series followed William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (played by Alex Winter in the films) and Ted “Theodore” Logan (Keanu Reeves), two teenaged slackers living in San Dimas, California in 1988. They want to make their rock band, “Wyld Stallyns“, successful but their ambitions and lackadaisical attitudes leave them close to flunking out of high school and threatening to split the band up forever. Unknown to them, their music will form the basis of a utopian society in the future.
In Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020), now enduring the monotony of middle-aged life, the two rockers are warned by a visitor from the future of the need for them to create a song in 78 minutes that will save all life on Earth and the entire universe. The pair work with their families, old friends, famous musicians, and each other to complete the task. Their daughters Billie “Little Bill” Logan and Thea “Little Ted” Preston will help the two disastrous musicians in their quest.
Together with the original actors Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, William Sadler reprising his role of Grim Reaper, and Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving playing the hero’s daughters, Anthony Carrigan, Kid Cudi, Jillian Bell, Hal Landon Jr., Amy Stoch, Jayma Mays, Erinn Hayes, Beck Bennett, Holland Taylor, Win Butler, Kristen Schaal, and Kelly Carlin also star.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) has been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the original creators of the characters. Dean Parisot, responsible for a good collection of action and comedy films and TV series including Galaxy Quest (1999), Fun with Dick and Jane (2005), and RED 2 (2013), has been the director of the new adventure.
The original plan is Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) to be released 31 years after the original film, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989). It is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2020, by Orion Pictures through United Artists Releasing in the US and by Warner Bros. Pictures in Europe. Yesterday June 9, the unofficial “Bill & Ted Day” (as the date’s digits 6 and 9 make up the duo’s favorite number 69 from the first film), the first teaser for the movie was released.
