Wolfkin (2022), also known as Kommunioun in its original language, is a Luxembourg and Belgium production that goes from the family drama genre to a more obscure horror side. A different mother and son story.
It centers on the single mother Elaine who is disturbed by her son Martin’s aggressive behavior and sudden physical changes. She visits his late father’s estranged family in small-town Luxembourg, where a much darker secret lurks. When she realizes that Martin could become like them, Elaine is forced into a desperate fight for her son’s future.
Jacques Molitor, who was nominated for the Golden Pardino award with his short film With the Dust (2008) at the Locarno International Film Festival, returns to the director’s chair after his awards-winner debut feature film Mammejong (2015). Uncork’d Entertainment, who have the distribution rights for the film, stated that “with strong practical effects guaranteed to keep genre audiences enthralled, and a unique storyline similar in tone to Let The Right One In (2008) and Hatching (2022), this family drama meets creature body horror, with a violent edge is shaping up to be one of our hottest titles for the second half of 2023”.
