The Wandering Earth (2019) was one of the highest-grossing non-English films of the last years in the USA. The movie was set in a near future where the Sun is dying out, and people all around the world build giant planet thrusters to move Earth out of its orbit and sail Earth to a new star system. In The Wandering Earth II (2023) the adventure continues.
In this new movie, humans built huge engines on the surface of the Earth to find a new home. But the road to the universe is perilous. In order to save Earth, young people once again have to step forward to start a race against time for life and death.
Frant Gwo is again the director of the film, with Gong Geer and Cixin Liu reprising the screenplay writing duties.
The Wandering Earth II (2023) is starring Andy Lau, one of the most famous Hong Kong actors thanks to his roles in the Infernal Affairs trilogy and House of Flying Daggers (2004). Jing Wu, Zina Blahusova, Fengyi Zhang, Regina Wan, Xuejian Li, and Li Ning also star.
The movie is coming out in theaters in China and Singapore on January 22, 2023, and will also have a limited release in other territories like the UK and the USA.
