This year, the tandem of filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury are quite present in the horror scene. If last year their latest movie to date Kandisha (2020) was part of the genre film festivals and will see the light on Shudder later this month, the French filmmakers have ready a new title to scare the audiences with their personal style of simple but yet scary and dark stories. Their new movie is entitled The Deep House (2021), and it’s a French production in the English language.

The movie centers on Tina and Ben, who are specialized in Urbex videos and travel to France to explore an underwater house. While diving, they visit the house and soon get locked inside with no way out. Their coming here will awake the dark spirit of the place and they will experiment the scariest time of their lives.

Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury are the directors and writers of the movie, with the assistance of Julien David and Rachel Parker for the English screenplay adaptation. Camille Rowe, James Jagger, and Eric Savin form the main cast. Jason Blum serves as an executive producer through Blumhouse Productions.

The Deep House (2021) will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. American cable television Epix has the distribution rights for the USA. Here you can watch its trailer.
