The dangers of an internet vigilante challenging the structure of our society in "The Artifice Girl"

The science-fiction thriller The Artifice Girl (2022) was one of the surprises in the past Fantasia Film Festival achieving the Audience Award Gold for Best International Feature. This month, the movie will be part of the South by Southwest Film Festival where it is nominated for the SXSW Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Award.

In the movie, when an internet vigilante develops a revolutionary new computer program to combat online predators, its rapid advancement leads to serious questions of autonomy, oppression, and what it really means to be human

This is the new movie for the awards-winner writer and director Franklin Ritch.

The main cast is led by Lance Henriksen, forever remembered as Bishop in James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) and other popular titles like Piranha II: The Spawning (1981), The Terminator (1984), Near Dark (1987), Pumpkinhead (1988), Johnny Handsome (1989), and the character Frank Black, the protagonist of the Millennium (1996–1999) TV series. Tatum Matthews, Sinda Nichols, David Girard, and the director Franklin Ritch also star.

Produced by Paper Street Pictures and Last Resort Ideas, The Artifice Girl (2022) was also nominated for the Asteroid Award for Best Film at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival.
