"The Breach": A Chief of Police must investigate one last case that will change things forever

Rodrigo Gudiño is the founding editor and publisher of the Canadian magazine Rue Morgue, one of the most essential publications on paper about the horror genre. But, asides from his journalistic work, he is an accomplished filmmaker who has been behind a bunch of short films and the awards-winner feature film The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh (2012). This month, his newest film is coming out after a festival run last year.

The Breach (2022) tells the story of John Hawkins, counting down his last days as Chief of Police in the tiny town of Lone Crow nestled deep in the desolate woods of Northern Ontario. But when a mangled body with uncanny wounds washes up on the shores of the Porcupine River, he’s pulled into a horrific mystery that defies comprehension.

The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Nick Cutter, published in 2020. He is also credited as the co-writer of the screenplay using his real name, Craig Davidson, with Ian Weir as the co-writer.

The main cast in The Breach (2022) is formed by Allan Hawco, Emily Alatalo, Natalie Brown, Wesley French, Adam Kenneth Wilson, Alex Lifeson, Mary Antonini, David R Carter, and Elisa Paszt.

The Breach (2022) has taken part of the genre film festivals Fantasia International Film Festival, FrightFest, Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, Monsters of Film, and Night Visions International Film Festival.

Slash, the guitarist of Guns ‘N Roses, is the executive producer of the film and contributed to the score. Hangar 18 Media is producing.

The Breach (2022) is coming out on digital and DVD on July 11, 2023. Watch its trailer here.
