The Discernment of Spirits is a term used in the theology of some Christian denominations to judge the influence of various spiritual agents on a person’s morality. I didn’t know that, I had to look it up.
In the horror movie The Discernment (2023), a woman discovers a book that opens a door to hell. A priest with the gifted ability to detect evil must decide to either save the book or the woman from demon possession. There is nothing Holy in this book, and she should have suspected it before purchasing and opening it.
This is the debut feature film of director and producer Magician Dewayne Hill, also credited as Aziz Dewayne Hill, who plays the role of the Priest Jacob.
Emily Killian, Lucia Oskerova, Noel Mirabal, Danielle J. Bowman, Elvia Hill, Nick Sloan, Andrea Fernandez, and Lisa Acebo also star.
