"The Bloody Man": A nostalgic 1980s retro with a horror twist

The fans of 80s-retro movies like Super 8 (2011), Turbo Kid (2015), Summer of 84 (2018), and the hit TV series Stranger Things (2016– ) have another title to add to their list: The Bloody Man (2020). The movie deals with themes like the grieving of a lost mother, love for comic books, and a genuine horror twist.

The movie is set in the 1980s and it follows Sam, who after the death of his mother is struggling with family, friends, school, and the most evil being he can imagine. The Bloody Man, who is unknowingly summoned and will stop at nothing to destroy everything Sam holds dear.

This is the new movie from director Daniel Benedict, known for his fan short film based on the Masters of the Universe franchise Fall of Grayskull (2015) and the horror-slasher Bunni (2013). He has been also the writer of the screenplay together with his frequent collaborator and producer Casi Clark.

The main cast in The Bloody Man (2020) is led by Tuesday Knight and Lisa Wilcox, who already appeared together in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988), one of the best titles of the Freddy Krueger saga. Mercedez Varble, Dan Eardley, Jason Crowe, Roni Jonah, and KateLynn E. Newberry complete the main cast.

The movie started as a Kickstarter campaign in 2020, and now it is scheduled for a digital release from Wild Eye Releasing on July 12, 2022.
