The flow of new releases from horror and science-fiction production and distribution company The Asylum doesn’t cease. One of the titles that have seen the light this summer is Megalodon Rising (2021), where a group of military ships is threatened by a gigantic shark and they must stop it before it reaches the American coast.
When history’s greatest aquatic predator returns, the armada of modern warships sent to destroy it has no chance at all.
Brian Nowak, who has been a script supervisor in several productions and already debuted as a director with another The Asylum production Meteor Moon (2020), is responsible for Megalodon Rising (2021). Another The Asylum alumni, Andrea Ruth, who was behind the story of Shark Season (2020), has been the writer of the screenplay.
As usually happens in these sorts of productions, a former big-name is leading the cast. This time, Tom Sizemore has been the chosen one, an actor with a promising career in the 1990s being present in titles like True Romance (1993), Striking Distance (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994), Strange Days (1995), Heat (1995) and The Relic (1997), but that for the last decades has been vanishing in a long list of low-budged and bad-quality movies. The rest of the cast is completed with Wynter Eddins, O’Shay Neal, Freda Yifan Jing, Zhan Wang, Elisa Menniti, Eric Guilmette, and Chris Grant Wenchell.
Megalodon Rising (2021) is already available in the usual The Asylum distribution channels since August 27, 2021. Here you can watch its official trailer.
