The 2015 satirical slasher film "Dude Bro Party Massacre III" is having a theatrical and digital re-release

For many, the horror comedy Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015) became an instant cult-classic by the time of its release. A satirical take on the gory and sexually charged ’80s slashers genre, the film is presented as the only surviving copy (taped from late night television) of the reviled third installment of the Dude Bro Party Massacre franchise. The inventive, absurd humor, violent scenes, and the surprising presence of a few celebrities helped the title to become a favorite for the lovers of the genre.

The plot in Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015) has almost all the ingredients of the classics of the slasher subgenre. In the wake of two back-to-back mass murders on Chico’s frat row, loner Brent Chirino must infiltrate the ranks of a popular fraternity to investigate his twin brother’s murder at the hands of the serial killer known as “Motherface.”

The movie spams from the website 5secondfilms.com, which founded in 2008 featured one 5-second film every weekday until 2013. The source for Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015) was one fake trailer created by the directors of the film, Tomm Jacobsen, Michael Rousselet, and Jon Salmon.

Alec Owen and Ben Gigli, the stars in Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015), are also the authors of the screenplay together with Brian Firenzi who appears in supporting roles. Chelsea St. John, Erik Sandoval, Skyler Rousselet, Logan Olson, Jon Worley, and Matt Hargreaves also star with the participation of the popular journalist celebrity Larry King, the rocker Andrew W.K., Primetime Emmy Awards winner Patton Oswalt, and Greg Sestero from The Room (2003) and The Disaster Artist (2017) fame.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015) premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 13, 2015 and was released digitally on July 7 the same year. Critics praised the hellion nature of the film with IndieWire writing, “Its form and its ideas come together in a disgusting, profane, vulgar, and psychotic concoction that will become, without a doubt, an instant cult classic” and Bloody Disgusting stating “the jokes hit hard and fast and the whole film’s quotable as hell” after a 4/5 stars rate.

This summer, the movie is having a second life with a series of screenings with a Q&A with the cast and crew in August and a digital re-release on September 1, 2023.
